Applications are officially open for the Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity (AFSE) Program 2026, a fellowship co-hosted by the University of Melbourne and Waipapa Taumata Rau (University of Auckland).
This fellowship aims to strengthen a growing community of Indigenous leaders and their allies who are driving meaningful, Indigenous-led social change across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. It is ideal for mid-career professionals who are deeply involved in community work and are passionate about developing bold, creative ideas into real-world projects that promote justice and equality for Indigenous peoples.

Benefits of the Fellowship
Establishment Year (2026):

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the AFSE 2026 cohort:
- Citizenship: Must be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, or a Pacific Island nation.
- Professional Experience: Possess five to eight years of experience in social impact or community leadership (typically mid-career, ages 25–65), or hold a relevant undergraduate degree.
- Education Status: Not currently enrolled in any academic program or awaiting thesis assessment as of January 2026.
- Fellowship Status: Not currently participating in any other Atlantic Fellowship program.
- Language Proficiency: Must be fluent in English.
- Travel Readiness: Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid passport, and be available for approximately seven weeks of travel throughout Australia and New Zealand in 2026.
- Visa Requirement: Pacific Island applicants must apply for an Australian student visa.
